A Singing Circle in Schiedam

I began singing Raga, the Indian classical tradition, about fifteen years ago. Over time, through steady practice, I came to understand and appreciate the subtle impact singing had on me—how it could shift my inner landscape, steady my breath, soften my heart. Singing gradually became a source of joy, nourishment, and quiet transformation.

During my years in London, my relationship with voice expanded even further. I joined improvised singing circles led by my friend Guillermo Rozenthuller, a gifted musician and an inspiring facilitator of spontaneous, collective singing. Those gatherings revealed another layer of what singing can offer. In a circle, without choreography or expectation, something unforced and deeply human emerges. Voices weave together, and the experience becomes more than music—it becomes connection, play, and presence.

These strands of experience are what now inspire me to offer singing circles.

Singing—whether alone or with others—has profound benefits. It supports emotional release, regulates the nervous system, and brings clarity and uplift. It encourages deeper breathing, anchors us in our bodies, and invites moments of real presence. In a group, singing builds trust, belonging, and a sense of shared humanity. Even those who feel shy or unsure about their voice often find surprising freedom in a gentle, supportive space.

My intention is to create circles where every voice is welcome, where sound becomes a pathway into joy, expression, and connection, just as it has quietly and steadily become for me.
