Birth Art Workshop – Creatieve voorbereiding op de geboorte in Schiedam

There comes a moment in pregnancy when preparing for birth is no longer about gathering information, but about meeting yourself before you step into it.

This is where I find Birth Art can be gentle yet a powerful way to connect to Birth.

About Birth Art Workshops

Birth art is a creative/embodied way of preparing for birth. It’s  also not about making something pretty and you don’t need any art skills at all. It’s about using simple materials, like pastels or clay, to explore what’s alive inside you as you prepare for birth.

The idea comes from midwife Pam England, from Birthing From Within. She saw that birth isn’t only something we learn about with our head, it’s something we meet with our whole being. And sometimes words aren’t enough. Art lets your body and intuition speak.

The invitation of Birth Art is really simple.
It’s an invitation to slow down.

To turn inward.

And to meet your own birth story before you step into labour.

So instead of only thinking about birth, you begin to feel into it.

Your hopes, your questions, your strength, maybe even your fears, all get a place on the paper in a soft and safe way.

In a session, I guide you with gentle prompts.

You create.

You pause.

You reflect.

And there’s no pressure to perform or explain anything perfectly. The value is not in the artwork, but in what opens inside you while you’re making it.

How does this help you?

Birth art helps you connect with your intuition, the same part of you that guides you in labour.

It helps calm your nervous system.

And it helps you meet yourself as a birthing woman, not just as someone preparing a plan.

It’s less about control, and more about trust, presence, and inner readiness.

So birth art is really a space where you get to meet your birth self before you meet your baby.

If you feel curious, I’d love to welcome you into one of my birth art workshops, where we create, reflect, and prepare for birth in a grounded, soulful way.

I attended Irida’s birth art workshop in April. I didn’t have any particular expectations, and I don’t consider myself especially artistic or creative, but I’m interested in new experiences and learning about pregnancy and birth. That made me all the more pleasantly surprised by the whole experience, which gave me a sense of calm and trust in myself and the process. Irida’s calm and gentle energy, along with her compassionate and non-intrusive approach, certainly contributed to that as well.
I would definitely do it again and recommend it to anyone considering it.
